What Is Toshka? The Syrian Sandwich Worth Ordering
Toshka is a beloved Syrian sandwich made by pressing spiced minced meat inside flatbread and grilling it until the outside is crispy and golden. Cut it open and you find a warm, savoury filling waiting inside. If you have never had it, it is one of the easiest dishes on our menu to fall for.
Where toshka comes from
Toshka is a street-food favourite in Syria, the sort of thing you grab hot off the grill and eat with your hands. Our family carried the recipe with us, and it remains one of the flavours that tastes most like home to us.
How we make ours
We fill the bread with seasoned minced meat and spices, then grill it so the outside crisps up while the inside stays warm and tender. We serve it with a tangy dipping sauce that cuts through the richness.
How to order toshka
Like the rest of our grill, toshka comes as a sandwich or as a full meal with fragrant rice, salad, and your choice of dip. It pairs especially well with a cold glass of ayran.
